One in ten young people are affected by a mental health disorder, yet 70% never receive diagnosis or treatment. Our Peer Educator programme empowers young people with the knowledge, confidence and skills to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and raise awareness amongst their peers.
Peer Educator is an ongoing project that aims to train hundreds of young people in recognising mental health, provide the tools to remove social stigma, and spread the positive effects across London. Enquire about running a Peer Educator group in your institution below.
The Peer Educator programme was designed and owned by Sarah Greaves-Turner 2016
The programme is conducted as either a single introductory session or an 8-10 week course. Participants receive training and support from expert facilitators in a school environment, then go on to share their knowledge in PSHE sessions and assemblies that are planned and delivered by the group. Peer Educators are provided with the capability and knowledge to continue championing mental health awareness however they choose.
